Rothy’s and Tieks are both beloved by their customers. They have many similarities and also a few differences. In this article, we explore what you need to know if you are choosing between Rothy’s vs Tieks.

When it comes to mom style, the first word I think of is comfort. Because let’s face it: if we barely have time to shower most days, we’re probably dressed in yoga pants, sweatpants, a dirty tee or a stained racerback tank.

And our unmanicured feet? They are in flip flops, sneakers, or ballet flats.

And while comfort is important for life as a mom, it’s always nice to find clothes or accessories that are comfortable and also make us feel fashionable. So Rothys vs. Tieks?  They are both popular and can make an ideal shoe for moms on the go!

It doesn’t matter what your personal style is, both brands sell shoes that are fashion-forward. Sometimes a pair of shoes completely makes or breaks an outfit. With Rothy’s or Tieks, there’s a good chance your ensemble will look top-notch, even if that ensemble involves sweats and a mom bun!

Both Rothy’s and Tieks sell practical, stylish shoes that fit the busy mom lifestyle.

So which brand is best for you? We shouldn’t play the comparison game when it comes to motherhood, but it’s totally fine to compare the pros and cons when shopping for shoes!

We’ve done most of the research for you, and want to share our findings. If you’ve been trying to decide which brand of shoes is the best “fit” for you, hopefully, this will help.

All about Rothy’s – What You Need To Know

As moms, we often seek out products that are made with ingredients known to be better for our children and our planet. (Except on those rare nights when a McDonald’s dinner is necessary for the sake of our sanity.) Rothy’s shares that same mission of living greener, and actually makes its shoes from recycled water bottles.

The washable insoles (you can wash them in the machine on cold for a refresher as needed) are made from bio-based castor oil and recycled materials and the shoes are also packaged without extra paper waste using biodegradable cardboard inserts.

Even the blue ribbons that the packages are wrapped in are made from recycled materials.

Rothy’s was founded in 2016 and has become such a popular brand that even celebrities like Meghan Markle are wearing the shoes. There are four styles of Rothy’s and each comes in a variety of colors and prints:

  • The Flat
  • The Point
  • The Loafer
  • The Sneaker

Each style is made with the same recyclable materials and is versatile enough for wearing every day. None of the shoe styles have heels, but with the right clothing pieces and jewelry, a pair of Rothy’s could easily go from day to night, no problem.

So what are the pros and cons when it comes to Rothy’s shoes?

Rothy’s Pros

  • Available in multiple styles and colors
  • Available in whole and half sizes
  • Makes stylish options for kids too

Rothy’s Cons

The only real drawback to Rothy’s is that the shoes are pricey (they range in price from $125-$165).

However, because of their quality and durability, they are a good investment. Considering how many cheap pairs of shoes moms buy that fall apart within months, buying Rothy’s might actually save you money in the long run.

All About Tieks – What You Need To Know

Person folding tieks
Foldable soles make the Tieks shoes easy to pack away in any purse or luggage.

Not only are Tieks quality handmade shoes made crafted from genuine Italian leathers, they are designed to fold and fit in a purse. Yes – I know – sounds too good to be true!

You won’t believe how small the package is that they arrive in!

If you are a working mom, then these are perfect for business travel.

They are also great for packing any time you may find yourself needing a change of shoes.

The split-sole design of Tieks allows the shoes not only to fold but also flex with your feet as you move.  This adds to their comfort.

The brown leather midsole is treated to be flexible so that the shoe can bend with the natural shape of your feet.

They also feature a cushioned back and insole to offer as much comfort as possible.

Tieks Shoes on Woman

The price point for Tieks is higher than Rothy’s; depending on the style, expect to pay anywhere from $175 to $345. If you’re concerned about spending that much, consider that most Tieks reviews are highly favorable and suggest the shoes are well worth the investment.

So Are Tieks Worth It?

Tieks Pros

  • Available in multiple colors and prints. Among these are:
    • Prints
    • Patents
    • Classics
    • Vegans
    • Little Miss Tieks (girls collection)
  • Durable and foldable

Tieks Cons

  • Expensive
  • Only available in whole sizes. (Tieks suggests going down a size unless you have wide feet.)

If you’re a mom who seems to change your shoes as often as your toddler changes her mood, Tieks might be an ideal choice.

The fact that they can be folded and carried around is quite impressive. You can keep a pair in your purse, one in your desk at work, and one in the glove box of your car. Pack them for a vacay or wear them around the house.

  1. I think both of these shoes are amazing. I would go with the tieks just off of the durability. It’s hard to buys shoes because I’m always at full sprint and they just don’t last. The soles fall off or something splits. I would spend the extra money just to have a pair of good shoes.

  2. This is a great side by side comparison of the two types of shoes. Just being a guy I would go with the cheaper pair, but I get comfort is very important in this regard and a couple extra bucks for

  3. Didn’t have much luck with Rothy’s holding up. The point started fraying after a short period of time. Tieks have worked out much better for me.

  4. Great side-by-side comparison. I have both Tieks and Rothy’s too. The one downside of the Rothy’s is that they don’t stretch at all. I have never been able to get a good fit. I can see that they would be awesome if you are lucky enough to match their sizing. With Tieks, they mold to your feet so there is a little more forgiveness on the sizing.
